Shakespeare’s tale about magicians, spirits, storms and love, widely regarded as one of his greatest works, performed by the well known touring company Chapterhouse, who brought Much Ado to Woburn so successfully in 2007.

About the play

A huge storm batters a ship carrying Alonso, (the King of Naples), Sebastian, (Alonso's brother), Ferdinand (Alonso's son), Antonio, Gonzalo and others. They are likely to die by shipwreck...

On the island near the storm live Prospero and his daughter Miranda. Prospero once the Duke of Milan was banished to this island with Miranda by Antonio, his brother who took over Prospero's dukedom of Milan.
Ariel, Prospero's magic fairy who tells us that the men onboard the ship have all made it ashore unharmed as planned. Ariel leads Ferdinand to Miranda and the two immediately fall in love…

General information

  • The running time is approx 2 hours plus a 15 to 20 minute interval.

  • All performances are open-air and will continue in alol but the worst weather

  • Seating is on rugs and low back chairs brought by the public, picnics are welcome, light refreshments will be available.

  • No photography during the performance.

  • No dogs except guide or hearing dogs please.
